Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
particle size distribution (granulometry)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Not stated
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The analysis was carried out on a Sedigraph III 5120, which uses sedimentation technology. A suspension of material, detergents (TSPP and Tamol) and distilled water was treated ultrasonically to destroy potential agglomerates. This suspension was pumped into the measuring cell. The gravity and particle size affect sedimentation which was determined by x-rays.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
sedimentation (gravitational settling)
Percentile:
D50
Mean:
0.3 µm
Remarks on result:
other: standard deviation not reported
Percentile:
D90
Mean:
1.4 µm
Remarks on result:
other: standard deviation not reported
Percentile:
other: D20
Mean:
0.2 µm
Remarks on result:
other: standard deviation not reported
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this study the D50 was 0.3 µm, D20 was 0.2 µm and D90 was 1.4 µm.
Executive summary:

The particle size distribution of the test material was investigated using sedimentation technology.

Under the conditions of this study the D50 was 0.3 µm, the D20 was 0.2 µm and the D90 was 1.4 µm.
