explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Ammonium octamolybdate has no explosive properties (see justification for classification or non-classification).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Ammonium octamolybdate is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. Any rapid/violent reaction with oxygen/air can be excluded, since ammonium octamolybdate contains molybdenum in its highest oxidation state. Further, it is noted that during long-term industrial use of the substance, no observation with regard to explosivity have been made.
