STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Room temperature, in the dark

Key result
Atm. press.:
ca. 100.4 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
ca. 252 °C
Remarks on result:
not determinable because of methodological limitations
Remarks:
Determination of the boiling temperature was not possible, since the test item reacted from approximately 176 °C (449 K) at 101.6 kPa. Distillation of the test item under atmospheric or reduced pressure was not suitable for this test item.

Thermal Analysis:

Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate was assessed initially as a clear colorless liquid. The appearance of the residues after thermal analysis (recorded on each thermogram) and the crucibles’ weight loss suggested limited volatilization of the test item after the exothermic reaction.

Distillation Method:

The Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate observed to bubble/volatilize from approximately 174 °C (447 K). A change of color, indicating decomposition, was observed from approximately 252 °C (525 K).

Conclusions:
Determination of the boiling temperature was performed in accordance to OECD 103. It was not possible to determine the boiling point, since Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate reacted from approximately 176 °C (449 K) at 101.6 kPa. Distillation of the test item under atmospheric or reduced pressure was not suitable for Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate.
Executive summary:

Determination of the boiling temperature was performed using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate was assessed initially as a clear colorless liquid. The appearance of the residues after thermal analysis (recorded on each thermogram) and the crucibles’ weight loss suggested limited volatilization after the exothermic reaction. Using the distillation method, the Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate observed to bubble/volatilize from approximately 174 °C (447 K). A change of color, indicating decomposition, was observed from approximately 252 °C (525 K). Distillation under atmospheric or reduced pressure was not suitable.

It was not possible to determine the boiling point, since Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate reacted from approximately 176 °C (449 K) at 101.6 kPa. Distillation under atmospheric or reduced pressure was not suitable for Ethoxy ethoxy ethyl acrylate.

Description of key information

Determination of the boiling temperature was performed in accordance to OECD 103. Using the distillation method, 2-Propenoic acid, 2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethylester observed to bubble/volatilize from approximately 174 °C (447 K). A change of color, indicating decomposition, was observed from approximately 252 °C (525 K). Distillation under atmospheric or reduced pressure was not suitable.
