Details on results:
As 2-Coumaranone rapidly hydrolyses in water to o-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid (OHPAA), it was decided to test the breakdown product OHPAA. The concentration of OHPAA was determined at start and end of the exposure period and 2-coumaranone equivalents were calculated.
The concentration of 2-coumaranone equivalents were 96.0 and 95.1 mg/L at the start and end of the exposure period. Based on the calculated equivalents, the toxicity of 2-Coumaranone is based on the nominal exposure concentrations.
