Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period.

The test substance was determined to be non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The test is to determine if and to what extent a fire initiated by an external source will propagate through a dust layer. The prepared sample is placed on a ceramic plate in the shape of a pile covering an area of about 2 cm by 4 cm. A small flame as an ignition source is brought up to one end of the sample pile. The combustibility of the product is rated on a scale from 1 to 6 depending on the course of the reaction (BN = Burning number). The respective test temperature is added as index.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance is determined to be non flammable according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) since the test substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period.
