Additional information

The substance ε-Caprolactone, oligomeric reaction products with propylidynetrimethanol can be considered stable at pH 4 and 7 (50 °C). At pH 9, 50 °C, the oligomer seemed to be completely hydrolysed within 5 days. Kinetic studies gave a half-life of about 16 h at the given conditions.

In a study conducted to OECD 301B, the substance was classified as readily biodegradable at a concentration of 33 mg/L (but not passing the 10 day window).

The logKow of the substance is reported to be 2.4 (see Section 4.7, partition coefficient). According to Column 2 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, no study is required if the logKow is below the trigger of 3 as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.

Based on the Log Pow value (iOECD 117, 2.4), the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. According to Column 2 of Annex VIII of the REACH regulation, no study is required if the logPow is below the trigger of 3 as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption.

In accordance with REACH Annex IX column 2, the degradation simulation testing in water and/or sediment and in soil does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable.
