Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Description of key information

Limoxal was assessed in a 48-hour acute study with Daphnia magna according to the OECD Guideline 202 in compliance with GLP. The daphnids (20 animals/concentration divided into 4 groups of 5 animals) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 4.61, 2.00, 0.832, 0.383 and 0.148 mg test item/L (mean measured concentration). The mobility of the daphnids was determined by visual observation after 24 and 48 hours. After 48 hours of exposure no immobilisation of the test animals was observed in the test item concentration of 0.148 and 0.383 mg test item/L. One test animal was immobile at the concentration 0.832 and the control. At the concentration of 2.00 mg test item/L, 9 animals were immobile and 18 animals were immobile at the concentration of 4.61 mg test item/L. The initial concentrations and the maintenance of the exposure concentrations during the test were examined in the analytical part. All reported results refer to time weighted mean concentrations, since test item concentrations were not within ± 20 % of the nominal or measured initial concentrations during the test. Under the study conditions, the 48-hour EC50 value was calculated to be 2.17 mg test item/L.
