Measurement of vinyltriacetoxysilane freezing point:

Measurement No. 1

Measurement No. 2

Initial value of freezing point, [˚C]

-18.1*

Initial value of freezing point, [˚C]

-11.3**

Average temperature of an initial freezing point ± stand. deviation,[˚C]

-14.7 ± 4.8

*/ As the value of an initial freezing point for the measurement No. 1 the value which corresponded to 78st minute was assumed.

**/ As the value of an initial freezing point for the measurement No. 2 the value which corresponded to 44th minute was assumed.

During the test the temperature of samples initially decreased at a constant rate.

After a 78th minute of reading for measurement No. 1 and 44th minute of that for measurement No. 2 the graph shown a significant increase in temperature. In this moment the opacity of test samples rapidly increased (significant increase in resistance to mixing ).

The average value of an initial freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was equal to: -14.7 ± 4.8 ˚C.

Conclusions:
The initial freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was determined to be -14.7 ± 4.8 ˚C.
Executive summary:

The determination of the freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was performed according to EU Method A.1 in conformity with OECD Guideline 102 (PN-ISO 1392: Method for the determination of the freezing point). The initial freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was determined to be -14.7 ± 4.8 ˚C.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-14.7 °C

Additional information

Key study: The determination of the freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was performed according to EU Method A.1 and OECD Guideline 102 (PN-ISO 1392: Method for the determination of the freezing point). The initial freezing point of vinyltriacetoxysilane was determined to be -14.7 ± 4.8 ˚C.
