Description of key information

In the only available (and reliable) study, performed according to OECD test guideline under GLP, the toxicity of the test substance to algae was determined to be EC50 (growth rate) =26.16 mg/l (nominal), with a respective NOEC of 12.5 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
26.16 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
12.5 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of the test substance to algae was investigated in a study according to OECD test guideline 201 under GLP.

Algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) were exposed to the test substance concentration of 6.25, 12.5, 25.0, 50.0 and 100.0 mg/l culture medium. Test substance concentration were prepared from a stock soultion of 100mg/l (nominal). As the analytical method was not reproducible, results were based on nominal concentrations. All validity criteria were fulfilled.

The toxicity of the test substance to algae was determined to be EC50 (Biomass) = 18.02 mg/l (nominal) and EC50 (Growth rate) = 26.16 mg/l respectively, with corresponding NOEC of 12.5 mg/l (for both effects).
