Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Boiling point, Alcohols, C9 -11 branched and linear is 213 -245°C at 1013 hPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of 213-245°C at 1013 hPa was reported in company product literature for the UVCB. The constituents and short chain structural analogues of constituents of the substance have recent reliable measured boiling points in the range 212°C (nonan-1-ol) to 247°C (undecan-1-ol) and these values provide additional supporting weight of evidence.

Discussion of trends in the Category of C6-24 linear and essentially-linear aliphatic alcohols:

As chain length increases, boiling point increases. This is because molecular weight is higher and intermolecular forces in the substance are all higher. There is some evidence for decomposition before boiling for the longest chain alcohols in this group.
