Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

MDI/DPG/TPG prepolymer is a viscous liquid at room temperature and has a flash point of 206 °Cat 747 mm Hg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

MDI/DPG/TPG prepolymer has a flashpoint of 206 °C at 747 mm Hg using ASTM D-93 method.

When 4,4'-MDI is heated a bit above room temperature, it becomes a liquid. Hence, a flashpoint could be determined of liquid 4,4'-MDI. The flashpoint determined is 211 degrees Celsius at 1000 hPa according to EU Method A.9 (Fisk and Langner, 1995). The Pensky-Martens closed cup was used.

The results for the prepolymer and the monomer are essentially the same.
