Description of key information

Biodegradation of the test material was evaluated according to the OECD Guideline 301D: Closed Bottle Test.

At the end of the 28 day test, the extent of biodegradation based on dissolved oxygen consumption reached 5.4 ± 4.1% and 1.4 ± 0.5% (mean ± 1 SD) for the 2.6 and 5.0 mg/L treatments, respectively. Thus, butyl phenyl ether cannot be classified as “readily biodegradable” according to the OECD Guideline 301D: Closed Bottle Test.
