Additional information

A long-term study on daphnia has been conducted in accordance to the technical guideline OECD TG 211. In a limit test, a saturated solution with a nominal loading of 1 mL test substance/L has been used with a daily renewal of the test medium. The saturated solution has been prepared by a slow stirring procedure due to the properties of the test substance. The test substance concentration in the fresh medium was in the range of 10.2 to 28.9 µg/L. The concentration of the test substance in old medium was below the quantification limit. Therefore the results are based on the geometric mean of the measured concentrations.

No mortality of parental daphnia were observed in the saturated solution or in the control group. No statistically significant reduction of the reproductive output in comparison to the reproductive output in the control was determined in the saturated solution of the test substance with a nominal loading of 1mL/L. Furthermore, the time of the first brood, the intrinsic rate of population increase and the number and size of the first brood per daphnia were reported, but not used for endpoint calculations. The NOEC of reproduction has been determined >= 6.6 µg/L and the LOEC is >6.6 µg/L after 21 days exposure.
