First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam and carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: COx, NOx, SO2 and other toxic gases.

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.00). Sweep up (wet powders with water), for liquids absorb using a suitable absorbent material (eg. kieselguhr, sand, saw dust etc). Transfer to labelled containers and dispose of by incineration in accordance with local regulations. Wash spill site with water. Prevent release to water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If the substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective gloves, safety goggles and a dust mask. Use equipment for handling powders or other appropriate egineering controls.

Storage: The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure containers in adequate rooms at room temperature. Avoid dust residue outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polyethylene-drum in sealed cardboard-package.

Exposure controls / personal protection

-Hygiene measures:

Avoid ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene practice and any legal requirements.Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period.

Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

-Eye/face protection:

Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists, gases or dusts. Recommended: tightly fitting safety goggles.

-Hand protection:

Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn at all times when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. Use gloves approved to relevant standards e.g. EN 374 (Europe), F739 (US). Suitability and durability of a glove is dependent on usage, e.g. frequency and duration of contact, chemical resistance of glove material and dexterity. Always seek advice from glove suppliers.

-Skin protection:

Personal protective equipment for the body should be selected based on the task being performed and the risks involved and should be approved by a specialist before handling this product.

-Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection by enhanced general ventilation (5-10 air changes per hour). Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.

-Environmental exposure controls:

Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation. In some cases, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None known.

Dust explosion: Not to be expected if handled under good industrial hygiene

practices.

Disposal considerations

Products and empty uncleaned containers to be disposed of according to the local legislation
