Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Bisphenol A Dianhydride (BPA DA) is an organic solid consisting of pale cream coloured flakes. BPA DA’s melting point ranges from 185 to 190°C with a boiling point greater than 314 °C at 101.3 kPa at 21°C. The density of BPA DA is 1.31 g/cm³. Granulometry analysis shows 89% of BPA DA particles are greater than 150 µm and no particles are less than 38 µm. The vapor pressure of BPA-DA was calculated based on its boiling point by computer software from Advanced Chemistry Development Inc. to be 5E-18 Pa at 25°C. BPA-DA was determined to be hydrolytically unstable, therefore the partition coefficient test was conducted with the hydrolysis product, 4,4-Bisphenol Tetra-Acid (BPA-TA). BPA-TA was found to have a log octanol-water partition coefficient (log Pow) of 0.7 at pH 5, -2.2 at pH 7 and pH 9. BPA DA is neither flammable nor auto flammable. BPA-DA is hydrolytically unstable with a half life of less than 12 hours. Structural analysis of BPA DA reveals the substance does not contain any chemical groups associated with explosive or oxidizing properties. The chemical structures of neither BPA-DA nor its primary hydrolysis product BPA-TA contain structural alerts for surface activity.
