Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

5.1.2 Hydrolysis: The substance undergoes no hydrolysis reaction in demineralized water within 24 hours and remains as an undissolved solid residue (Neuland, 2016).

5.2.1 Biodegradation in water: A GLP study was performed to assess the ready biodegradability in accordance with the OECD guideline study (OECD 301F). After 28 days no biodegradation (1 %) was observed. The reference compound sodium benzoate showed 84 % degradation after 14 days (Spoo-Kloeppel, 2015).The substance is regarded as “not readily biodegradable” in water.

5.4.1Adsorption/desorption: The organic carbon partition coefficient (Koc) was predicted using the QSAR calculation (EPI Suite v 4.11). The Koc was estimated to be 10200 L/kg (logKow method), and 11200 L/kg (MCI method). The results relate to the unaffected molecule of the substance as any decomposition (e.g. hydrolysis) of the substance is not taken into account by the program.
