1997
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The flash point of a flammable liquid is the lowest temperature at which there will be enough flammable vapor to ignite when an ignition source is applied.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point:
28 °C

Conclusions:
The mean flash point of n-hexylamine (CAS No. 111-26-2) is 28°C at 975.6 hPa.
Executive summary:

The flash point determination of Test item n-hexylamine (CAS No. 111-26-2) was done. The method is closed cup method using Abel’s Flash Point Apparatus. The flashpoint of the test item was determined to be 28°C at 975.6 hPa.

Description of key information

The flash point determination of Test item n-hexylamine (CAS No. 111-26-2) was done. The method is closed cup method using Abel’s Flash Point Apparatus. The flashpoint of the test item was determined to be 28°C at 975.6 hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
28 °C

Additional information

As per the available data for flash point from laboratory report and authoritative databases, the flash point value determined was in range from 27 degree C to 29.4 degree C. As the data from laboratory has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guidelines which has the value of flash point as 28 °C at 975.6 hPa within the range, thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment. Also based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point <than 60 degree C and boiling point >35 degree C, the hexylamine (111-26-2) was classified in Flammable Liquid Category 3.
