Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is considered as non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The determination of the flammability of the test item was performed in a valid GLP study in accordance with EU Method A.10. In contact with the ignition source, a weak glowing of the surface of FAT 40849/A TE was observed. The test item could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). Therefore, no main test was performed. FAT 40849/A TE is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline. The appraisal of the molecular structure indicates no risk with respect to pyrophoric properties or the potential of evolving flammable gases in contact with water or humid air. Studies were performed in aqueous test systems (e.g. water solubility). The test item did not show any spontaneous ignition or formation of flammable gases performing the above-mentioned studies. FAT 40849/A TE does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air and shows no risk with respect to pyrophoric properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance FAT 40849/A TE could not be ignited in a standard flammability test for solid substances. In addition, the substance neither does spontaneously ignite in contact with water or humid air nor does it release ignitable gases. The substance FAT 40849/A TE hence does not require classification for flammability.
