Individual results

A measurement chamber with a volume of Vc= 141.8361 cm3 and an expansion chamber with a volume of Vr= 69.3167 cm3 were used. These volumes were selected to reduce a negative influence by heterogeneity of the test item on the measurement.

Two test series with different weights were performed at ambient temperature (20.0 °C). For results see Table1 and Table2.

Relative density (compared to water at 4 °C):

D4R= 1.35      (20.0 °C)

Conclusions:
The relative density at ambient temperature (compared to water at 4 °C) was determined to be:
D4R= 1.35      (20.0 °C)
Executive summary:

The density determination was performed with the gas comparison pycnometer according to OECD 109. The aparatus with a measured amount of the test item in the measurement chamber is swept 10 times with 19.5 psi Helium (purity min. 99.99 %) at a constant and

regulated environmental temperature. Thereafter, the valve to the expansion chamber (volume = Vr) is opened and a certain amount of gas expands from the measurement chamber (volume = Vc) containing the test item to the expansion chamber. The volume of the test item Vs is calculated of the pressure drop from p1to p2 caused by the gas expansion. Two individual test series containing three measurements were performed. The density was calculated from the mass of the sample and its measured volume for each measurementbwfore the results were averaged. The estimated accuracy of this method is ±0.01 g/cm³.

The relative density at ambient temperature (compared to water at 4 °C) was determined to be:

D4R= 1.35      (20.0 °C)
