Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results:

Melting point / melting range (DSC measurement)

One DSC measurement in aluminium crucibles with a hole showed an exothermal effect in the temperature range of 240 – 265 °C, which was directly followed by an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 265 – 270 °C. The endothermal effect was directly followed with an exothermal effect in the temperature range 270 – 335 °C. The results of the DSC measurements are summarized in Table 2.

The crucible was damaged after the measurement and the test item was decomposed. In order to proof the non-existence of a melting point an additional measurement was performed with the capillary method.

Melting point / melting range (capillary tube in a metal block)

One measurement with the capillary method was performed. The filling height of the test item was approximately 5 – 6 mm. The results are summarized in Table 3.

Approx. 256 °C: test item began to decompose

The DSC and capillary method measurements showed that the test item had no melting point. The test item decomposed first.

Executive summary:

The test item had no melting point. The test item decomposed before melting could occur.

Description of key information

The melting point / melting range of the test item was determined according to the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.1 and according to the OECD test guideline, OECD 102.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item had no melting point. The test item decomposed before melting could occur.
