Description of key information

In short term toxicity study on Oncorhynchus mykiss in semi static condition for 24,48,72 and 96 hrs. with mortality effects 50% lethal concentration (LC50) was found to be as follows:
LC50=2.5 mg/L (24 hrs.)
LC50=2.3 mg/L (48 hrs.)
LC50=1.8 mg/L (72 hrs.)
LC50=0.6 mg/L (96 hrs.)
LC100=> 1 mg/L (96 hrs.)
NOEC<= 0.16 mg/L (96 hrs.)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water fish

Fresh water fish
Effect concentration:

Additional information

In short term toxicity study of test chemical 2-cyclohexylidene-2-phenylacetonitrile on Oncorhynchus mykiss in semi static condition for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hrs. with mortality effects 50% lethal concentration (LC50) was found to be as follows:

LC50=2.5 mg/L (24 hrs.)

LC50=2.3 mg/L (48 hrs.)

LC50=1.8 mg/L (72 hrs.)

LC50=0.6 mg/L (96 hrs.)

LC100=> 1 mg/L (96 hrs.)

NOEC<= 0.16 mg/L (96 hrs.)

All these experimental values indicate that the test substance 2-cyclohexylidene-2-phenylacetonitrile categorized in aquatic category 1 and 2 as per the CLP criteria.

Supporting study from predicted model also estimate the LC 50 as1.41 mg/l in a 96 hrs.This LC50 value indicate that the test substance 2-cyclohexylidene-2-phenylacetonitrile is toxic to aquatic environment and categorized in Chronic Category 2.
