- Executive summary:
According to EU Method A. 5 the surface tension is 72.2 mN/m. A commercially available tensiometer based on the plate method has been used to measure the force which is required to withdraw a horizontally suspended plate from the surface of the test item. The surface tension was determined in a solution of 1.0003 g test item in 1 L demineralized water (approx. 1 g/L) at 20 °C. After 24 h stirring a clear measuring solution was obtained and no particles were visible. For verification of the measured values the surface tension of demineralized water was also measured. With a correspondence of the measured value σ (20 °C) = 72.5 mN/m, to the theoretical value σ (20 °C) = 72.75 mN/m, cited in literature, the determination of the surface tension of PDI item is considered as valid.

It should be made clear that the substance hydrolyses rapidly and thus during measurement most of the substance had been disappeared.
