Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No issues of instability/degradation of the substance

Additional information

The substance is very soluble in EtOH and in diethylether; soluble in chloroform (David, R.L., 2004).  The substance has been identified as a platform chemical for various interesting derivatives. The applications and its derivatives have been reviewed extensively and a number of interesting chemical reactions of the substance was provided. Functional group transformations involving the carboxylic-, carbonyl- and methyl-group as well as typical oxidation and reduction reactions was reported in different conditions (i.e. solvent, temperature) without issues of instability/degradation of starting material before the desired reaction (Bozell, J. J. et al. 2000).
