Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From October 26, 2009 to November 23, 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

The moisture content was determined gravimetrically. An aliquot (approximately 1 g) of the test substance was weighed (in duplicate) into loss bottles. The samples were dried to constant weight under reduced pressure at approximately 40⁰C. The mean moisture content was 1.464% w/w.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
Under the study conditions the test substance (in solid form) was not readily flammable.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the flammability of the test substance according to EU Method A.10, in compliance with GLP. The substance, in solid form, could not be ignited with a flame. The main test was considered unnecessary as the test substance fails to ignite during two minute periods. Under the study conditions, the test substance (in solid form) was not readily flammable (Atwal, 2009).

Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

Solid form: the flammability was determined according to EU Method A.10.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Solid form: the test substance is not readily flammable.

Brine: The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Justification for classification or non-classification
