Description of key information

TCD-emulsifier is non-toxic to earthworms at a limit test concentration of 1000 mg/kg d.w.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

In a GLP compliant study, TCD-emulsifier was tested for toxicity to earthworms according to OECD guideline 207. The test animals (4 test containers with 10 earthworms each) were exposed to a concentration of 1000 mg TCD-emulsifier/kg dry weight substrate in an artificial soil consisting of sand, clay mineral and peat. After 14 days, the number of surviving animals and their weight alteration during the test period was determined. The LC50 (14 d) determined for TCD-emulsifier was >1000 mg/kg d.w. Related to weight alterations and symptoms the no-observed-effect-concentration (NOEC) was 1000 mg/kg dry weight substrate (highest tested concentration).
