Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From June 30, 1999 to October 05, 1999
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Relative self-ignition temperature:
267 °C

An exothermic reaction of the test substance occurs at a temperature of about 152 °C and leads to 407 °C. After this, the temperature of the test substance overshot the oven temperature exceeded 400 °C at a temperature of 267 °C. So the relative self ignition temperature is 267 °C.

Conclusions:
Under the test conditions, the relative self ignition temperature of the test substance was determined to be 267 °C.
Executive summary:

A study was performed to determine self ignition temperature of test substance according to EU Method A.16.in compliance with GLP.

8 cm3(4.1 g) of the substance under test is placed in an oven at 27 °C; the temperature/time curve relating to conditions in the centre of the sample is recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased to 400 °C at a rate of 0.5°C /min.

Description of key information

The relative self ignition temperature of the test substance was determined to be 267 °C.
