overall irritation score
Basis:
mean
Time point:
72 h
Reversibility:
fully reversible within: 72 h
Remarks on result:
no indication of irritation
Irritant / corrosive response data:
The chemical produced reddening and swelling of the conjunctiva for a short time. Only a few animals showed slight opacity of the cornea and this was reversible after 72 hours (as a rule).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: Not irritating
Conclusions:
The test material was considered to be not irritating to the eyes of treated rabbits.
Executive summary:

An eye irritation study was conducted to determine the adverse effects caused by the test chemical.

When the undiluted chemical was instilled into the eyes of each rabbit, the chemical producedreddening and swelling of the conjunctiva for a short time. Only a few animals showed slight opacity of the cornea and this was reversible after 72 hours (as a rule).

Since the observed effects were not persisted during the observation period, the test chemical was considered to be not irritating to the eyes of rabbits.
