Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

At the analytically confirmed nominal concentration of 120 mg/L of the test item 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, no effects were observed on Daphnia magna.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

In this study, 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata over the period of 72 hours. The EC50-value for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErC50) after 72 hours was 125 mg test item/L, the EC10 -value was determined to be 83.6 mg test item/L. All effect values are based on nominal concentrations of the test item. The nominal concentrations of the test item were confirmed analytically.
