Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxic potential of the substance to algae was evaluated according to a method based on the OECD 201 guideline. Selenastrum capricornutum was exposed to different concentrations of the substance for 72 hours after which the cells density was measured. The concentrations used in the main test (0.28 -542.30 mg/l) were determined during the preliminary study in which the algae were exposed to five concentrations of the substance (14.7 -540.8 mg/l). Concentrations were measured at the beginning and at the end of the test, while pH of the control medium was also measured in the same time intervals.

The growth rate inhibition was determined; EC50 (72h) = 226.2 mg/l (measured)

A lower reliability published study is also available for the evaluation of the Algae toxicity. The toxicity potential of the substance to green algae was evaluated after 2 hours of exposure to different concentrations of the substance (ranging from 0 -5500 mg/l). Fluorescence parameters were measured on 2 ml algal suspension after 1 and 2 h of exposure. The effects concentration EC50 (2h) was measured as 1640 ± 127 mg/l.
