Description of key information

The 96-h ErC50 value is >1,000 mg/L and the NOErC 250 mg/L in Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (reported as Selenastrum capricornutum).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For algae a GLP-compliant growth inhibition test was performed according to OECD Guideline 201 (Duphar B.V., 1992d). Growth rates and biomass production on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (tested as: Selenastrum capricornutum) were affected, but a reduction of more than 50% towards the control was not observed. The ErC50 was greater than 1,000 mg/L. The EbC50 was greater than 1,000 mg/L at days 1 and 2,900 mg/L at day 3 and 880 mg/L at day 4. The 96-h ErC50 of >1,000 mg/L and the 96-h NOErC of 250 mg/L in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (tested as: Selenastrum capricornutum) will be used in the assessment.
