Description of key information

The 48-h EC50 value is 520 mg/L in Daphnia magna.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant 48-h immobilisation test with Daphnia magna was performed according to OECD Guideline 202 (Duphar B.V., 1992c). Strong effects on mobility were observed at 1,000 mg/L and moderate effects at 500 mg/L. This especially occurred on the second day of the experiment. No immobilisation above 10% occurred at the other concentrations. At 24 and 48 hours after test initiation a few water fleas were floating on the surface, lay on the bottom or showed slow movement. These effects are not regarded compound related. The control mortality was below 10% and therefore meets the validity criteria. The 48-h EC50 of 520 mg/L in Daphnia magna will be used in the assessment.
