Description of key information

The chronic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was examined in a study in accordance with OECD TG 211 and in compliance with GLP. In this study, Daphnia magna (groups of 10) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0.0477, 0.153, 0.488, 1.56 and 5 mg/L for 21 days under semi-static conditions. Test concentration analysis revealed mean measured concentrations of 0.0323, 0.103, 0.346, 1.01 and 2.89 mg/L (58 - 71% of nominal). At a measured concentration of 1.01 mg/L, approximately 50% of the remaining adult daphnia were observed as hyperactive and exhibited dark red pigmentation and mortality was seen at 2.89 mg/L. The EC50, EC10 and NOEC for parental mortality were 1.76, 1.07 and 1.01, respectively. The time taken to produce the first brood of neonates was adversely affected at 1.01 and 2.89 mg/L. Statistical analysis of the numbers of dead neonates or aborted eggs produced by each surviving adult in the test groups compared to the control group showed the following reproductive toxic effect concentrations: EC50 was 1.18 mg/L; EC10 was 0.678 mg/L and NOEC was 0.346 mg/L, respectively.
