Description of key information

A study on the bioaccumulation potential of the substance was performed in accordance with OECD TG 305 and GLP (Kurume Laboratory, 2007b). In this study, whole-body steady-state bioconcentration factors (BCF) for Japanese carp (Cyprinus carpio) were examined at test concentrations of 0.5 µg/L and 5 µg/L in a flow-through system at 25 ºC. Each concentration of the substance was maintained at more than 88% of each nominal concentration. The variation of the concentrations of the substance was within ± 20% of the average of the measured concentrations. Steady-state was reached after 41 days. The measured BCF values ranged from 49.4 to 297 L/kg when exposed to 0.5 µg/L of substance and from 31.3 to 310 L/kg at a concentration of 5 µg/L. Normalisation of the value for lipid content was not needed as the lipid content was close to 5%. In the report three main components and one minor component have been tested for their bioaccumulation potential at two levels 5 and 0.5 µg/L (total substance). Each component has been analysed in the water phase and in the fish. Level 2 values are not always reported because the values were below the limit of detection. Using the fraction of components (fC) of the substance and their respective values (using the highest of the two levels) the BCF was calculated to be 58.3 L/kg.
