Conclusion on classification
Lactides undergo rapid hydrolysis, forming lactic acid. Therefore, by way of read-across from lactic acid, the following conclusion on classification and labelling is derived:
DD-lactide does not need to be classified for environmental hazards, and no short or long-term effects are expected for any exposure levels that do not lower the pH to unacceptable levels. Accordingly, no relevant hazards are identified.
