Additional information

A GLP-compliant OECD 203 guideline test was available and the 96-h LC50 value of vinyl chloride in Brachydanio rerio is 210 mg/l (Groeneveld, 1993). This value is used in the assessment, because the other two experimental studies that are available are older non-GLP studies with higher LC50 values (Industrial Bio-Test laboratories, Inc., 1971). Furthermore, calculated effect concentrations using ECOSAR are available for freshwater fish (U.S. EPA, 2000). The calculation of 115 mg/l is reliable, validated and falls within the applicability domain of the QSAR.
