Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test materials were determined to be not highly flammable as they failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test. Further testing was therefore not required.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Samples of Super hartolan amd Argowax were subjected to the flammability preliminary screening test as outlined in Method A.10 pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and the council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). If the preliminary test resulted in and indication of high flammability, then the burning rate test as included in Method A.10 would be carried out.

Upon applying the flame, the materials quickly melted and formed a molten pool on the flame proof mat. Continued application of the flame on the pool and the solid resulted in no ignition. After 2 minutes of attempted ignition the flame was removed. A section of approximately 3 cm in length had melted and spread across the mat.

As no ignition occurred within the specified 2 minute time limit, the verdict is thus that the materials are not highly flammable and no rate test is required.

The test materials were determined to be not highly flammable as they failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test materials were determined to be not highly flammable as they failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.
