Description of key information
The water solubility of Guanidine Nitrate is 256g/L at 20°C.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 256 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
The water solubility of guanidinium nitrate is reported to be in the range between 44 and 423g/L (in the temperature range between 0 and 75°C) and 256 g/L at 20°C (Beilstein handbook, 2009).
In contrast, a smaller value about 125 g/L at 20°C was reported by the American Cynamid Company (1937). This could be explained because the value was derived from a graph. To enable functionalities within Chesar v.1.2, water solubility (here being out of range with a value of 2.56E+05 mg/L) was set to the maximum value of the range advised by the implemented EUSES program, i.e. to <1E+05 mg/L. Additional supporting data from the read-across substance guanidine chloride were included to demonstrate the similar physico-chemical profile of both substances, used to substantiate the justification for read-across, outlined in chapter 13 of technical dossier.
