Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Water solubility of gases is typically measured in a closed system, under pressure, to achieve saturation in water. A value of 45600 mg/L is reported and was measured in a closed system at atmospheric pressure and 25°C, making it the most relevant value for risk assessment. Other higher values (potentially measured at higher pressures) have also been reported in the literature, since this substance is very miscible with water.  The substance is readily saturated in water in these closed systems, but this is not representative of behaviour of gases under environmental conditions. In open systems, the solubility of this gaseous substance is significantly lower due to its volatility (vapor pressure greater than 1E5 Pa). Fugacity Level III modelling also demonstrates that air is the only relevant environmental compartment for this gaseous substance with emissions totally to air. Therefore, this value still represents a much higher concentration than would ever be expected under environmental conditions.
