Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acid Brown 282 (ABr282) is a brown organic powder at 1013 hPa and 20 °C.

Between 25-130 °C release of imbibition water/solvent was observed, followed by decomposition of the product between 297-443 °C (onset at 329.3 °C; enthalpy = 1747 J/g); therefore both melting and boiling points were not recorded (REACH&Colours Kft, 2013).

The particle size distribution of the ABr282 was analyzed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool and the resulted MMD 56.591 µm (REACH&Colours Kft, 2012).

ABr282 is very soluble in water and Kow value was calculated as 0.8654 (average log Pow: -0.0752), showing a greater affinity with the water phase, than the octanol phase. The relative density of the substance, analyzed by means of pycnometer method, is 1.468 at 20 °C (REACH&Colours Kft, 2012).

Since it is a solid, properties like vapour pressure, surface tension and flash point can be neglected.

In the flammability test performed, ABr282 did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore the substance resulted non flammable. ABr282 does not ignite and propagate combustion; the screening evaluation failed to evidence any reason of concern, on the basis of the chemical structure analysis and the thermal behaviour investigation.
