The U.S.E.P.A. O.T.S. 797 1400 Fish Acute Toxicity Test conducted on vinyl neononanoate resulted in the lowest EC50/LC50 value of 4.2 mg/L. Therefore, this value is most appropriate for the establishment of protective freshwater and marine PNEC values. Applying Total Assessment Factors of 1000 -fold for freshwater and 10,000 -fold for salt water as per as per E.C.H.A. R.I.P. 3.2 Chapter R. 10: Characterization of dose [concentration] - response for environment, guidance, Table R.10 -4 (page 190 and Table R.10 -5 (page 27) the resulting PNECaquatic is 4.2 ug/L and the PNECmarine water is 0.42 ug/L.

The PNECstp for vinyl neononaoate is based upon the outcome of a GLP, O.E.C.D. 209 Testing Guideline study conducted on the structural analog vinyl neodecanoate. The EC50 value for this study was > 500 mg/L. Applying a 100 -fold Assessment Factor as per E.C.H.A. R.I.P. Chapter 10 guidance (Section R.10.4.2. Page 30) the PNECstp for vinyl neononanoate is predicted to be > 5 mg/L.
