Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is placed upon the European Union market as a solid, therefore, the surface activity is not a desired property to investigate.

In addition, based on structure, ZMB2 is a zinc salt with the anion being a weak acid. The weak anion may associate with cations of limited solubility, leading to precipitation. As a result, the maximum solubility of ZMB2 in dechlorinated tap water was reduced by the presence of cations (Ecotoxicity studies, Safepharm 2003). In an OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility), the water solubility of ZMB2 is 32 mg/L at 20 +/- 0.5 deg C. Based upon the data achieved from the ecotoxicity studies conducted at Safepharm (2003) and the water solubility result in the OECD 105 study, the substance is considered insoluble (<1 mg/L). (Safepharm 2002).

According to Column 1 of Annex VII of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) legislation a Surface Tension study does not need to be conducted if the surface activity is a desired property of the material or if the substance is water insoluble, therefore this study has been waived.
