Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Phototransformation is not a relevant degradation pathway.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data evaluating the potential for photodegradation of l-Glutamic acid, N-coco acyl derivs., disodium salts (CAS No. 68187-30-4) in air are available. As the substance is a complex UVCB substance, QSAR calculations for the main components (C12, C14) have been performed (AOPWIN v1.92, EPISuiteTM), resulting in estimated half-lives (DT50 values) of 11.76 (C12) and 10.84 (C14) hours (OH concentration: 0.5E+06 OH/cm3, 24h-day).

These results indicate that l-Glutamic acid, N-coco acyl derivs., disodium salts is susceptible for indirect photodegradation in air. However, photodegradation in air is not considered to be a relevant degradation process as the substance is not expected to evaporate into the atmosphere based on its low vapor pressure of < 0.00001 Pa (at 20 °C).
