Daphnia, acute
In the acute immobilisation test with Daphnia magna (STRAUS) the effect of the saturated solution# (DOC 3.4 mg/L) of the test item was determined according to OECD 202 (2004) . The limit test was conducted under static conditions over 48 h . 20 test organisms were exposed to the saturated solution and the control.
Water quality parameters pH-value and dissolved oxygen concentration, measured at 0 and 48 h, were determined to be within the acceptable limits. The validity criteria of the test guideline were fulfilled.
The test item was visually clear dissolved at the tested saturated solution throughout the exposure period. No immobility was determined in the tested saturated solution after 24 h and 48 h.
There is no biologically significant effect neither in the tested saturated solution nor in the control group.
Alga
The toxicity of the test itemto the unicellular freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus was determined according to the principles of OECD 201 (2011).The aim of the study was to assess the effects on growth rate and yield over a period of 72 hours.
Asaturated solutionwith a nominal concentration of 1 mg/Lwas tested.Sixreplicates were tested for the limit concentration and the control.Environmental conditionswere determined to be within the acceptable limits.
The concentrations of the test item the test item in the saturated solution and the control were analytically verified via HPLC-DAD at the start of exposure. The recovery rates ofthe test item at the start were below the System Quantification Limit of the analytical method (0.05 mg/L test item).
All effect valuesof the test item are given based on the nominal concentration.
In this study the test item was found not to inhibit the growth rate of the freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatusafter 72 hours. The NOEC-value of the test item for both inhibition of growth rate and inhibition of yield after 72 hours were 1.00 mg/L. The EC50-values of the test item for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) after 72 hours were both > 1.00 mg/L, respectively.
