Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The recommended value for the viscosity of pure hydrogen peroxide (100% w/w) at 20 °C is 1.249 mPa * s.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
1.249 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The data on the viscosity of hydrogen peroxide given by Schumb et al. (1955) is based on experiments carried out by Phibbs and Griguére (1951), who determined the viscosity by using the Oswalt viscometer method. The recommended value for the viscosity of pure hydrogen peroxide at 20 °C is 1.249 mPa * s. This value is in good agreement with information provided by the Manufacturing Chemists' Association: The viscosity of highly concentrated solutions of the substance are given with 1.26 mPa * s (90% w/w solution) and 1.25 mPa * s (98% w/w solution), respectively (MCA 1969).
