Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
October 7 2008 to February 27 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Study performed according to GLP and internationally accepted test guidelines.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
method to determine freezing temperature
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -25 °C

In trial determinations, the test substance did not solidify as the temperature was decreased from ambient temperature down to -25°C. No further testing was necessary, as the sample was still liquid at -25°C.

Conclusions:
The freezing temperature of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane was determined to be less than -25°C.
Executive summary:

A package of physico-chemical testing including a freezing point determination was conducted to determine specific properties of the test substance 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane. The freezing point determination was performed to OECD and EC test guidelines, and in compliance with GLP.

No further testing was necessary, as the sample was still liquid at -25°C. The freezing temperature of 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane was determined to be less than -25°C.

Description of key information

The freezing temperature of 1,3-BAC was determined to be less than -25°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
