First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

Pay attention to self-protection.

Remove victims from hazardous area. Immediately remove soiled or soaked clothing and remove it to a safe distance. Keep victim warm, in a stabilized position and covered.

Do not leave victims unattended.

If the casualty is unconscious: Place the victim in the recovery position.

Inhalation

Potential for exposure by inhalation if aerosols or mists are generated.

Move victims into fresh air.

With labored breathing: Provide with oxygen. Consult a doctor.

If the casualty is not breathing: Perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, notify emergency physician immediately.

Skin contact

Wash off affected area immediately with plenty of water.

Continue decontamination with polyethylene glycol 400 after initial rinsing with water and then wash with water and soap.

If symptoms persist, consult a physician for treatment.

Eye contact

With eye held open, thoroughly rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes.

Consult an ophthalmologist immediately if the symptoms persist.

Ingestion

Rinse out mouth.

Immediately give large quantities of water to drink.

Consult a physician immediately.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

After accidental absorption in the body, the pathology and clinical findings are dependent on the kinetics of the noxious substance (quantity of absorbed substance, the absorption time, and the effectiveness of early elimination measures (first aid)/ excretion - metabolism).

Continue with first aid measures.

Depending on the pathology and clinical findings, patient monitoring and symptomatic treatment are necessary.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

Water, water vapour, extinguishing powder, extinguishing foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Danger of decomposition under influence of heat.

Risk determining decomposition products:

Allyl-alcohol

In the case of fire, the following hazardous smoke fumes may be produced:

Carbon monoxide

Hydro-cyanic acid

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

full protective suit

Advice for firefighters

In case of fire, remove the endangered containers and bring to a safe place, if this can be done safely.

In case of fire cool containers or take them to a safe place.

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Contaminated extinguishing water must be treated at a suitable disposal plant in accordance with waste management laws.

Ensure there are sufficient retaining facilities for water used to extinguish fire.

Fire residues should be disposed of in accordance with the regulations.

Keep out unprotected persons.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Wear personal protective equipment.

Keep unauthorized persons away.

Environmental precautions

Prevent substance from entering soil, natural bodies of water and sewer systems.

If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Absorb with liquid-binding material, e. g.: diatomaceous earth, sand, universal binder

Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations.

Waste to be packed like clean product and to be marked. Identification label on packages not to be removed until recycling.

Handling and storage

Handling

Precautions for safe handling

Wear personal protective equipment.

Keep in a dry, cool place.

Avoid residues of the product on the containers.

If stored longer an increase in oligomeric material could be expected.

If the material has to be melted we recommend a water bath with a maximum temperature of 50 °C.

An electrical heating of drums or containers is of high risk to initiate polymerization accompanied by strong exotherms.

It should only be used after the careful installation of safety measures, to avoid localized overheating.

For further information we strongly recommend to get in contact withour Applied Technology Department.

As a consequence of the production process, Triallycyanurate can contain traces of ally alcohol; for this reason, an efficient ventilation of the working room(s) should be installed.

Also keep emptied containers away from sources of heat and ignition.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Formation of flammable or explosive vapour/air mixtures possible.

Caution - electrostatic charge may occur.

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Ensure there are sufficient retaining facilities for water used to extinguish fire.

Storage

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Approved and licensed tank for liquids with safety adaptations.

Information on request.

Storage temperature: 32 - 38°C

Advice for firefighters

In order to ensure due transportation, make certain that stacks are of the correct height, containers are securely fastened so as not to fall off, and labelled according to the regulations.

Advice on common storage

Observe prohibition against storing together!

German storage class

10 - Combustible liquids neither in Storage Class 3

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Engineering measures

Ensure suitable suction/aeration at the work place and with operational machinery.

Provide for installation of emergency shower and eye bath.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection

Use suitable respiratory protection where aerosols/vapours are generated.

When handling for a short time:

Respirator with brown A-type filter

in the event of prolonged exposure during handling:

Respirator with ABEK combination filter

Note time limit for wearing respiratory protective equipment.

Hand protection

safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166

or

When handling larger quantities: basket-shaped glasses

Skin and body protection

Usual lab protective clothing

or:

When handling larger quantities: chemical protective suit, disposable protective suit

Hygiene measures

Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

No eating, drinking, smoking, or snuffing tobacco at work. Wash face and/or hands before break and end of work.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Use suitable skin protective agents before handling product. Cleanse and apply cream to skin after work. Preventive skin protection recommended.

Protective measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.

The personal protective equipment used must meet the requirements of directive 89/686/EEC and amendments (CE certification).

It should be defined in the work place in the form of a risk analysis according to directive 89/686/EEC and amendments.

If there is the possibility of skin/eye contact, the indicated hand/eye/body protection should be used
