Description of key information

The particle sizes of four zeolites (one type A zeolite, two type Y zeolites, one type X zeolite) were analysed by laser method. Here, the median particle size distribution (D50) varied from 1.115 to 8.687 µm.

Additional information

The particle sizes of four zeolites (one type A zeolite, two type Y zeolites, one type X zeolite) were analysed by laser method. Here, the median particle size distribution (D50) varied from 1.115 (type P zeolite) to 8.687 µm (type A zeolite).

The measurement of the PSD varied profoundly with the method employed:

In another study, the high-energy dispersing process (RBG) led to similar results as above: A detergent grade MAP type zeolite showed the finest PSD (x50.3,HELOS-RBG = 1.21 μm), whereas a type A zeolite (x50.3,HELOS-RBG = 8.92 μm) showed the coarsest particles.

During the HELOS-analyses, the detergent grade MAP type zeolite showed the smallest particle size (x50.3,HELOS-GRADIS = 280.32 μm) due to the weak dispersing procedure (GRADIS), whereas samples of type Y zeolites showed nearly similar volume-weighted PSD with the coarsest particles (x50.3,HELOS-GRADIS = 503.53 μm; x50.3,HELOS-GRADIS = 491.82 μm).
