Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Additional advice
Do not give victim anything to drink if he is unconscious.
Inhalation
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. Keep the patient warm and at rest. Perform artificial respiration if breathing has
stopped. Get medical attention immediately.
Skin contact
Promptly remove soiled clothing. Wash contaminated skin with plenty of soap and water. Wash soiled clothes
before reuse.
Eye contact
Flush with water at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if eye irritation develops or persists.
Ingestion
Flush mouth with water. Get medical attention immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media
Water, Carbon dioxide, dry chemical or foam.
Specific hazards
Fire can generate toxic or irritating fumes, e.g. oxides of sulphur.
Special protective equipment for firefighters
Appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus
Specific methods
Keep storage containers cool with water spray.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions
Use in areas of adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapours Avoid contact with skin and eyes. See section 8
for personal protection measures.
Environmental precautions
Prevent entry into sewers and waterways. Prevent entry into soil.
Methods for cleaning up
Sweep up and place in suitable containers. See section 13 for waste management measures
Handling and storage
Handling
Use in areas of adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing of vapours. Eating, drinking and smoking should be
prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Ensure that the current occupational
safety and health act legislation is followed. See section 8 for personal protection equipment.
Storage
To be stored in a dry and well ventilated place protected from moisture and warmth. Keep the containers tightly
closed.

Exposure controls
Occupational exposure controls
Ensure adequate ventilation. if possible use local exhaust extraction and efficient exhaust ventilation. Avoid
breathing of fumes and dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid repeated exposure. Use personal
protection. Eating, drinking and smoking prohibited. Wash thorougly after work. Store working clothes separated
from other clothes.
Ensure that the current occupational safety and health act legislation is followed. Pregnant women should
contact occupational health care.
Respiratory protection
Use respiratory protection (e.g. filter P3).
Hand protection
Use chemical resistant gloves (PVC, butyl rubber, rubber, neoprene).
Eye protection
Safety goggles
Skin and body protection
Wear appropriate boots and coveralls or other protective clothing.
Environmental exposure controls
Prevent contamination to soil, waterway and sewer systems. Observe the requirements of IPPC directive.
Stability and reactivity
Materials to avoid
Oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products
Thermal decomposition and burning may produce: oxides of sulphur.
Disposal considerations
Hazardous waste.
Waste code 11 02 07*: wastes from non-ferrous hydrometallurgical processes;other wastes containing
dangerous substances.
Empty containers should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Contaminated packaging
Hazardous waste.
