Description of key information

The effect of DCPD on the nitrification of soil microorganisms was determined in a GLP-compliant study following OECD guideline 216. No inhibiting effect on the nitrification potential was observed up to a concentration of 1000 mg/kg SDW, the highest concentration tested. The NOEC is therefore considered to be =1000 mg/kg SDW.

The effect of DCPD on earthworm reproduction was determined in a GLP-compliant study following OECD guideline 222. Earthworms were exposed to 6 concentrations of DCPD alongside a control in artificial soil. There were no statistically significant differences in earthworm reproduction in the treatment rates 15.6 to 125 mg DCPD/kg SDW compared to the control. However, at the test item concentration 250 mg DCPD/kg, the earthworm reproduction was statistically significantly reduced and, at the test item concentration 500 mg DCPD/kg soil dry weight, no juveniles were found. Overall, the NOEC of the test item concerning mortality, biomass and reproduction was determined to be 125 mg DCPD/kg SDW and based on reproduction. The EC50 value for reproduction was determined to be 250 mg DCPD/kg SDW.

TLM QSAR modelling was used to estimate the LC50 and EC10 values towards F. candida. The calculated LL50 is 55.475 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 10.627 mg/kg soil dw.

TLM QSAR modelling was used to estimate the LL50 and NOELR values towards terrestrial plants. The calculated LL50 for A. sativa is 253.568 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 48.576 mg/kg soil dw. The calculated LL50 for B. rapa is 163.717 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 31.363 mg/kg soil dw.
