A maximum temperature of 520 °C was measured in the sample cube during the exothermic reaction. At the end of the measurement, the test item was dark with lumps in different sizes.. For detailed results, see attached file results.doc.

Conclusions:
Chemically activated carbon is auto-flammable according to the criteria in EEC Directive 92/69 A.16.
Executive summary:

The auto-flammability of chemically activated carbon was determined according to EU Method A.16 under GLP. The auto-flammability temperature was found to be 275 degrees Celsius at 98.5 kPa. Therefore chemically activated carbon is considered to be auto-flammable according to the criteria in EEC Directive 92/69 A.16.
